A Canandaigua man was hospitalized and charged with driving while intoxicated after his vehicle left the roadway and plunged into a ravine in Ontario County. Deputies said the crash happened April 8 around 4:27 p.m. on Hicks Road, where the driver crossed the center line before going off the road.
Authorities identified the driver as 52-year-old Ryan T. Colvin, who was found at the bottom of a roughly 50-foot ravine. He was taken to Clifton Springs Hospital with multiple neck fractures, where he was later placed under arrest.
Colvin was issued tickets for DWI, open container, moving from lane unsafely and unsafe tires. He is scheduled to appear in South Bristol Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
Emergency crews from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office were assisted at the scene by state police, Cheshire Fire Department and Naples Ambulance.
