The Bristol Volunteer Fire Department responded to 30 incidents in July, with nearly half involving mutual aid for neighboring fire districts.
The department assisted agencies in communities including Naples, East Bloomfield, Honeoye and Cheshire.
Fire officials said mutual aid is critical for incidents that require more personnel, equipment or specialized resources, including structure fires, multivehicle crashes and brush fires.
Bristol firefighters were also dispatched to 11 emergency medical calls to provide first response and assist the Canandaigua Emergency Squad.
Training planned for August includes a drill at a local farm focused on preparing for possible silo fires, a review of Ontario County’s foam trailer and instruction on newly purchased self-contained breathing apparatus.
The department is also selling $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win a fire pit and four composite Adirondack chairs. The drawing will be held during the department’s clambake Sept. 19, and the winner does not need to be present.
