Bristol firefighters report 30 September calls, prepare new mini-pumper

The Bristol Volunteer Fire Department responded to 30 incidents in September, bringing its total for the year to 254 calls.

Half of September’s responses involved firefighters serving as first responders to assist Canandaigua Emergency Squad with emergency medical calls, according to a department update.

The department also reported five mutual aid calls involving the Richmond, Naples and Cheshire volunteer fire departments. Other responses included weather-related incidents involving downed lines and two motor vehicle collisions.

Firefighters are outfitting a new mini-pumper and have begun training with the vehicle. The department also plans live-burn training at the Public Safety Training Facility in October.

September included preparations for the department’s annual clambake. In its update, the department thanked attendees and said favorable weather helped make the event enjoyable.

Much of the proceeds will go toward improvements to the clambake grounds and buildings, the department said.

The department also announced plans to offer a barbecue dinner on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. Additional details will be released later.
