Mets erupt for 10 runs behind Nolan McLean in win over Giants

The New York Mets improved to 4-4 on the season with a 10-3 win over the San Francisco Giants on Friday night at Oracle Park, snapping a three-game skid behind a breakout offensive performance and a dominant start from Nolan McLean.

New York erupted for 10 runs on 15 hits after scoring just nine runs over its previous four games. Every Mets starter reached base as the lineup produced early and often against San Francisco pitching.

The Mets struck first in the opening inning with three straight hits from Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Bo Bichette, then added on throughout the night. Marcus Semien delivered a key two-run home run in the fourth inning to extend the lead, and Francisco Alvarez followed with a solo shot. Alvarez later added a second home run in the seventh, while Luis Robert Jr. and Mark Vientos each drove in runs during a four-run seventh inning that put the game out of reach.

McLean was dominant early, retiring the first 15 batters he faced and carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning. The right-hander finished with 5.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit with two walks and four strikeouts.

The bullpen limited further damage as the Mets held San Francisco to five hits overall.

Mark Vientos reached base four times, while Semien finished with three hits and three RBI in a breakout performance.
