Auburn Players are looking for local talent to bring a well-known comedy to the stage, with auditions set for early April in downtown Auburn.
The group announced auditions for its upcoming production of “Sylvia,” a comedy by A.R. Gurney, scheduled for April 6 and April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Auburn Public Theater.
Auditions will consist of script readings, with organizers seeking two male and two female performers to fill six roles. The play centers on a married couple navigating middle age when the husband brings home a stray dog — Sylvia — who quickly becomes a source of tension in their relationship.
The role of Sylvia, played by a woman, adds a unique dynamic to the story, blending humor with themes of companionship, identity, and change. The production follows Greg and Kate as they adjust to life after their children leave home, with Sylvia disrupting — and ultimately reshaping — their relationship.
Additional roles include a male actor portraying multiple characters, including a fellow dog owner, a socialite, and a therapist.
The production is directed by Bob Frame. Those interested in auditioning can attend either session or contact organizers for more information.
