State Sen. Pam Helming recognized the York girls varsity volleyball team at the State Capitol for its 2025 championship season.
The team was honored on the Senate floor for winning the NYSPHSAA Class D state title.
York secured the program’s first state championship with a three-set win over defending champion Candor in the finals.
The team entered the season with two returning starters and one senior after graduating nine players the previous year.
Senator Helming said, “After falling short in the sectional finals twice, this team came back stronger, more focused, and ready to make history.”
Helming recognized players Madalena Balisciano, Jordan Ray, Bailey Orman, Erin Knapp, Jaelyn “JJ” Kane, Bree Parsons, Fiona Grant, Madison Ezard, Kylee Koronas, Leah Cuozzo, Sylvianna Heineman, and CC Biondo on the Senate floor.
The team is coached by Kaitlin Kolb, with assistants Mikayla Johnson, Lonni Carroll, Beth Niedermaier, and Steven Carroll.
