No. 8 Syracuse men’s lacrosse (8-2) delivered a statement performance in its return to the JMA Wireless Dome Sunday, overwhelming No. 13 Georgetown (3-4) with a decisive first-half surge en route to an 18-12 victory.

After an early 3-1 deficit, Syracuse seized control with an 11-1 run that flipped momentum and created a commanding halftime cushion. The Orange dictated tempo on both ends, capitalizing on offensive efficiency while limiting Georgetown’s opportunities during the pivotal stretch.
Joey Spallina paced the attack with six points, recording two goals and four assists to orchestrate the offense. Michael Leo matched a season high with five goals, consistently finishing scoring chances. Finn Thomson added four points with a hat trick and one assist, while Wyatt Hottle and Payton Anderson each contributed two goals to round out a balanced scoring effort.
Defensively, Syracuse leaned on goalkeeper Jimmy McCool, who turned in one of his strongest outings of the season. McCool finished with 17 saves and a .586 save percentage, anchoring the Orange during key Georgetown pushes and preserving the lead throughout the second half.
The win marked Syracuse’s first game back at home in over a month and reinforced its position among the nation’s top teams with a complete performance on both sides of the field.
Syracuse returns to action at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, March 28, hosting Duke at 2 p.m.
