State Sen. Pamela Helming has been named a 2026 Legislator of the Year by the American Red Cross in New York State.
Helming was recognized during a ceremony held March 11 in Albany as part of Red Cross Month.
The Red Cross honored six state lawmakers from across New York for supporting programs focused on emergency preparedness, disaster response and community resilience.
Helming was recognized by the Red Cross Western New York Region for her support of several aspects of the organization’s work, including biomedical services.
Other legislators receiving the 2026 recognition include Assemblymembers April Baskin, Charles Lavine, Dana Levenberg and Steven Raga, and Assemblymember Carrie Woerner.
The American Red Cross in New York operates through three regions and supports disaster relief, blood donation, emergency preparedness education and assistance to families affected by emergencies.
