Sabres hold off Predators for sixth straight win

The Buffalo Sabres extended their win streak to six games with a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night at KeyBank Center.

Tage Thompson scored to extend his career-best point streak to 10 games, while Jason Zucker and Josh Doan also found the net for Buffalo. Goaltender Alex Lyon made 23 saves to help secure the victory.

Nashville struck first early in the second period when Zachary L’Heureux scored to give the Predators a 1-0 lead. Buffalo responded shortly afterward as Thompson tied the game, continuing his productive stretch. Thompson now has six goals and five assists during his 10-game point streak, the longest by a Sabres player since Jeff Skinner’s 10-game run during the 2022-23 season.

Zucker and Doan added goals later in the game as Buffalo built a lead and held off Nashville’s late push to secure the win.

The Sabres struggled to generate offense early, managing just two shots in the first period and being outshot 6-2. Buffalo found its rhythm in the second period and capitalized on scoring opportunities to take control.

Sam Carrick made his Sabres debut after being acquired from the New York Rangers ahead of Friday’s trade deadline. Carrick centered a line with Zach Benson and Beck Malenstyn and finished with two hits in 8:21 of ice time.

With the win, Buffalo remained in position atop the Atlantic Division and set up a key matchup with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
