Bath man charged after police find meth during early morning patrol

An early morning foot patrol behind a Bath church led to a drug arrest after officers found a local man in possession of methamphetamine, according to police.

The incident happened around 3:50 a.m. April 24 near the Centenary United Methodist Church on West Washington Street, where an officer observed two individuals sitting on a bench behind the building.

Police said one of the individuals, identified as 27-year-old Travis J. Carlton of Bath, was seen with drug paraphernalia. Following an investigation, officers determined Carlton was also in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine.

Carlton was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge in Bath Village Court at a later date.
