A longtime downtown Ithaca building is getting a new owner and a second chance. Local developer John Guttridge purchased 126–130 S. Cayuga St. for $540,000 and plans to renovate the historic property, according to The Ithaca Voice.
The three-story building, known as the Fury Block and built in 1885, previously housed Pizza Aroma and several apartments. Structural problems forced tenants to leave after the upper floors fell into disrepair and exterior brick became unsafe.
Guttridge said he plans to clean out the building and assess needed repairs before starting renovations. The project could take a few years as his company balances other redevelopment projects in downtown Ithaca.
