The Buffalo Sabres (36-19-6) extended their win streak to four games with a 3-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights (28-19-4) on Tuesday night at KeyBank Center.
Tage Thompson scored the game-winning goal in his first home game since helping Team USA capture gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Thompson’s goal at the 5:44 mark of the second period gave Buffalo a 3-0 lead and extended his point streak to eight games, matching a career high.
Jason Zucker opened the scoring for the Sabres at 4:02 of the first period after collecting a loose puck near the right post. Owen Power doubled the lead just 46 seconds into the second period, firing a wrist shot from the blue line following a faceoff win by Noah Ostlund.
Thompson added Buffalo’s third goal moments later after receiving a pass from Alex Tuch and beating Vegas goaltender Akira Schmid from the right circle.
The Golden Knights answered quickly with two goals in a span of 1:37. Ivan Barbashev scored on a rebound wraparound before Pavel Dorofeyev added a breakaway goal to cut the deficit to 3-2 midway through the second period.
Buffalo held the lead from there, limiting Vegas to five shots in the third period. Goaltender Alex Lyon made 29 saves to secure the win.
