A new partnership will help the Edith B. Ford Memorial Library keep its community hygiene closet stocked year-round.
Centralus Health will provide annual funding to support the Ovid library’s Hygiene Closet, which offers free personal care items to residents in the South Seneca area.
The closet launched in 2024 through a collaboration with the Young Adult Community Engagement Program and the United Way of Seneca County. It was created by local young adults to provide neighbors with basic hygiene supplies.
For nearly two years, the program has relied on donations from individuals and groups, including FLX ROAR and the South Seneca Ecumenical Food Pantry.
Library officials said the new funding will help maintain a consistent supply of high-demand “hygiene essentials.”
The library is also considering expanding the closet and adding more higher-end items in the coming months.
The Hygiene Closet continues to accept donations during regular library hours. Items frequently needed include shampoo, conditioner, menstrual hygiene products and diapers.
