Police recovered a stolen $10,500 utility vehicle and seized a rifle with a homemade suppressor during an arrest in Waterloo Saturday night.
Larry M. Arno Jr., 34, of Waterloo, now faces two felony charges following the investigation, according to the Waterloo Police Department.
Officers arrested Arno around 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 28. Police charged him with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a Class D felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, also a Class D felony.
The charges stem from a reported theft earlier in the month.
On Feb. 10, a Can-Am Defender UTV was reported stolen from a job site in the Town of Tyre. The vehicle was valued at $10,500.
Police said officers later spotted the UTV at Arno’s residence. Authorities had also received information that the stolen vehicle was being stored there.
Officers went to the home and confirmed the UTV was the one reported stolen, police said.
During the investigation, officers also found Arno in possession of a rifle fitted with a homemade suppressor. That discovery led to the weapons charge.
Authorities did not release additional details about how long the UTV had been at the residence.
Police transported Arno to the Seneca County Correctional Facility for arraignment. He was later released on his own recognizance.
The Waterloo Police Department received assistance at the scene from the New York State Police and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
