A late-night traffic stop ended in a snow-filled ditch after police say a driver sped off and tried to outrun officers in Waterloo.
Police arrested Eric D. Wilson, 36, of Columbia, Maryland, around 12:25 a.m. February 15 on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC greater than 0.18%.
Officers say they saw Wilson make a turn without using a signal, speed, and fail to maintain his lane.
Police say he then fled from officers. The pursuit ended when he drove off the roadway and got stuck in a ditch packed with snow.
During the investigation, officers determined Wilson had a blood alcohol content of 0.28%. That level measures more than three times the legal limit.
Police issued Wilson uniform traffic tickets for the DWI charges. They also charged him with unsafe turn without a signal, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely, speed in zone, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and operating with an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
Wilson will appear in the Town of Fayette Court at a later date.
