Artists across the Finger Lakes have a new chance to leave their mark.
ReUse Systems, Inc., a new nonprofit based in Geneva, just announced a logo design contest as it builds its presence in Ontario County and the surrounding region.
The organization wants a creative and professional logo for use on its website, social media and printed materials. Leaders say the design should feel eye-catching, flexible and approachable, while clearly reflecting the group’s vision and mission.
ReUse Systems, Inc. envisions regional communities working together to eliminate waste by sharing resources and fostering economic opportunity for a resilient future. The nonprofit says it focuses on waste reduction and sustainable resource management as a way to build stronger communities.
Over the next year, the organization plans to open a retail outlet selling high-quality, affordable used goods and salvaged construction materials. It also plans to host fix-it clinics to keep items out of landfills and launch a deconstruction program so building materials can be reused in thoughtful and creative ways. Leaders say the group will also provide training and employment for people committed to preserving the environmental health and beauty of the region.
That broad mission means the logo must appeal to a wide audience. The group hopes to connect with local shoppers looking for affordable household items, clothing, gifts and building materials. It also plans to work with the construction industry on deconstruction projects and partner with municipalities, government agencies and other public and private entities.
The logo must work across a range of platforms, from the organization’s website and letterhead to T-shirts and store banners. Designers must keep the image clean, legible, unique and scalable at different sizes. Artists can use any color, but the logo must also work in black and white.
Each submission must include the original source file and a high-resolution PDF at 300 dpi or higher. Designers cannot use copyrighted images or previously published material, and they must create the logo entirely on their own without the use of AI.
Artists should email their designs to [email protected] by April 1. The organization’s Communications Committee will select the winning entry.
The winning artist must assign all ownership and intellectual property rights to ReUse Systems, Inc. The organization says it may alter or revise the logo as needed to meet its marketing and communication goals. Leaders also reserve the right not to select a winner if no suitable entries are received.
The selected artist will receive a $250 Visa gift card and recognition on the organization’s website, newsletter and social media platforms.
