Deputies: Sennett man charged after woman hospitalized from domestic assault

A domestic violence investigation that stretched over several weeks ended with an arrest in the Town of Sennett.

Christopher J. Coleman, 48, of Sennett, was arrested Feb. 3 after Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies completed an investigation into an incident reported earlier in January.

Deputies began investigating on Jan. 14 after learning a female victim had been hospitalized with injuries connected to a reported domestic incident that occurred days earlier. Investigators interviewed multiple people over several days to establish what happened.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation determined Coleman pushed the victim, causing her to fall and suffer injuries serious enough to require hospitalization.

Coleman later turned himself in at the Public Safety Building, where deputies arrested him and charged him with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

He was transferred to Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment and released on his own recognizance. Coleman is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on Feb. 11.
