Pal-Mac wrestler makes history

A comeback season ended with a first-of-its-kind title for Palmyra-Macedon senior Breana Pentycofe, according to WayneTimes.com.

Pentycofe became the first girl in program history to win a division championship at the Wayne-Finger Lakes League Championships at Dundee High School. The win came just weeks after she returned from a hamstring tear, capping what she called a roller-coaster season.

After a slow start, Pentycofe pinned her final three opponents to secure the title. She narrowly missed the championship last year, the first season girls wrestling gained official status under the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. Up next: sectionals on Feb. 13.
