Mother prepares for trials in Sam Nordquist murder case

One year after Sam Nordquist was reported missing, his mother, Linda Nordquist, says she is preparing for the criminal trials expected to begin later this year.

Nordquist, a 24-year-old transgender man from Minnesota, traveled to Canandaigua after meeting a woman online. His mother said communication became sporadic before stopping altogether. On Feb. 13, 2025, his body was found in a field in Yates County.

According to the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, Nordquist was tortured for weeks before being murdered. Seven people have been arrested and charged in connection with the case.

While trial dates have not yet been scheduled, Linda Nordquist said she plans to temporarily relocate to Canandaigua so she can attend court proceedings every day as the case moves forward.
