A costly paperwork mistake has the Seneca Falls Town Board back at the table tonight, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Town leaders plan to vote on a new resolution to fix a retirement error that placed two police officers in the wrong pension system when they were hired in 2014. Lt. Thomas Cleere and Sgt. Bethany Kidd ended up in a standard plan instead of the 20-year police retirement system.
Correcting the mistake could cost about $500,000. The proposal would use legally available town funds and allow payments to the New York State Retirement System to be spread out over time. The board may also need state legislation before moving forward.
