SwapCycle event promotes reuse in Seneca Falls

A curbside swap event in Seneca Falls will give residents a chance to pass along usable items instead of sending them to the landfill.

The Seneca Falls SwapCycle event runs April 17 through April 19. Organizers say the goal is to reduce waste while helping residents save money by reusing items that are still in good condition.

The event allows residents to give away unwanted but usable items to others in the community. Items will be placed curbside and can be picked up by anyone who wants them during the event window.

Residents must register in advance at senecahousinginc.org/swapcycle.

Items can be placed at the curb no earlier than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 17. Participants may pick up items throughout Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19.

Any unclaimed items will be collected by the Town of Seneca Falls during the designated Bulk Waste Pickup Day on Monday, April 20. Seneca Meadows will receive the bulk waste at no cost to the town.

Organizers stress that this is not a household cleanup event. All items must be in good working order and usable condition.

Several types of items are not allowed. Prohibited materials include broken appliances, damaged furniture, hazardous materials, tires, mattresses, yard waste, refrigeration and air conditioning units, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, electronics, gas cylinders, liquids, and any suspicious or unrecognizable materials.

The event is open only to Seneca Falls residents and is intended to support waste reduction, reuse, and affordability during a time when many households are facing financial strain.
