Manktelow said the decision wasn’t easy but signaled he plans to stay involved in public service outside elected office. He told constituents his focus now is finishing his term and continuing ongoing legislative work.

The district covers all of Wayne County and part of Monroe County. His departure opens a competitive seat ahead of the 2026 election cycle.

Several candidates have already announced their bids to succeed him in the 130th. You can read about them here.
