Lakeview buys vacant downtown building of former bank

A long-empty downtown bank finally has a buyer, according to Finger Lakes Times. Lakeview Health Services purchased the former Five Star Bank building on Seneca Street for $300,000.

The nearly 28,000-square-foot building will become the hub for Lakeview’s administrative offices and community programs. The agency stressed the site will not include housing. About 80 employees will eventually work there as Lakeview consolidates operations that have outgrown its Washington Street space.

Renovations could start early this year, with some programs moving in before year’s end. The purchase follows Lakeview’s earlier withdrawal from a proposed Genesee Street project that faced zoning hurdles and neighborhood opposition.
