After years of buildup, shovels are finally ready to hit the ground in Central New York, according to WSYR-TV.
Micron Technology announced construction will begin Jan. 16 on its massive $100 billion megafab campus in the Town of Clay. The project at White Pine Commerce Park promises up to 50,000 jobs and will roll out over 20 years.
The campus will include four chip fabrication plants, plus childcare and health care facilities. Leaders including Chuck Schumer called the moment a turning point for Upstate New York’s economy and U.S. semiconductor manufacturing.
