The first baby born at Cayuga Medical Center this year arrived late Saturday morning, giving the Ithaca hospital an early reason to celebrate.
Khalilah was born at 11:01 a.m. on Jan. 3 to parents Erica and Johnny, according to Cayuga Health. She weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and measured 20 inches long.
Hospital officials said Khalilah is the fourth child in her family and the second girl. Her name comes from Arabic and means “beloved.”
Cayuga Health said the birth marked the first delivery of the new year at Cayuga Medical Center. The hospital’s Cayuga Birthplace team shared congratulations with the family.
Cayuga Health is part of Centralus Health, a regional network serving the Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, and Central New York.
