Drivers in northern Cayuga County could face dangerous conditions as lake-effect snow and strong winds move into the area.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office issued a travel advisory for the northern part of the county, stretching from Auburn to Fair Haven, beginning at 7 p.m. Monday and continuing through 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said the advisory is in response to forecasts calling for heavy lake-effect snow and high winds that could make roads hazardous, especially during overnight and early morning hours.
Motorists are urged to use caution if they must travel during the advisory period. Officials also recommend restricting travel when possible until conditions improve.
The sheriff’s office said the advisory may be updated if weather forecasts or conditions change.
Drivers are encouraged to monitor local weather reports and allow extra time if travel is unavoidable.
