Corning Salvation Army races to goal

With just days left before Christmas, the Corning Salvation Army still needs a big push to hit its Red Kettle goal, according to WENY. The local chapter has raised about $36,000 toward its $60,000 target with six days remaining.

Captain Bryan Bender said donations fund year-round programs like the food pantry and after-school support. He noted the campaign currently runs ahead of last year’s pace, but falling short would force the group to find other funding.

Volunteers stress that even small donations add up, especially during tough economic times. Officials also encourage residents to volunteer as bell ringers or donate online or in person before Christmas Eve.
