A Corning man faces felony contraband and weapon charges after deputies said he possessed an item redesigned as a cutting instrument while incarcerated at the Steuben County Jail.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office said Jonathan A. Rivaldo, 29, of Chestnut Street, was arrested Aug. 7 following an investigation into the alleged weapon.
Rivaldo was charged with first-degree introducing dangerous jail contraband, a Class D felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to Sheriff Jim Allard.
He was arraigned in centralized arraignment court and returned to the Steuben County Jail without bail, the sheriff's office said.
