Wayne supervisors to tackle busy agenda Tuesday: What’s on it?

Wayne County lawmakers have a full slate of business lined up when the Board of Supervisors meets Tuesday morning in Lyons.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the Wayne County Historic Courthouse and includes public hearings, proclamations, and dozens of resolutions spanning public safety, human services, and county operations.

Two public hearings are scheduled for 9:05 a.m. Supervisors will hear public comment on creating an Office of Family Defense for Wayne County and on a local law adjusting salaries for certain county officers during their 2026 terms.

The board will also recognize county retirements, including County Clerk Mike Jankowski and Public Health employee Susan Sheets, and pause for a remembrance of William “Bill” Liddle.

A presentation from the New York State Sheriffs’ Association will focus on E911 accreditation efforts.

Much of the agenda centers on renewing or approving contracts for human services. Supervisors will consider agreements supporting senior transportation, legal services for seniors, domestic violence services, child advocacy, foster care, counseling, and multiple youth and family support programs.

Public safety items include proposed agreements to place deputy sheriffs as school resource officers in several county school districts, along with updates tied to 911 operations and sheriff’s office equipment and software.

The board will also review health and medical items, including nursing home operations, mental health budget adjustments, and contracts for preschool and special education services.

Other business includes public works projects, economic development funding for the Sodus Point Lighthouse Museum, budget transfers, and year-end financial actions.

The meeting is open to the public, and residents will have an opportunity to speak during the privilege of the floor portion of the agenda.
