State Police arrested a Wayne County man following a lengthy investigation into reports of online child sexual exploitation.
Troopers arrested Timothy J. Daniel, 34, of Clyde, on Dec. 10 after investigators linked him to multiple CyberTipline reports forwarded by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
State Police said the reports began arriving in July 2024 and involved uploads of suspected child sexual abuse material. The case was assigned to the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Lyons.
Investigators said they identified Daniel as the suspected user of the online accounts named in the reports. Troopers executed a search warrant in February, seizing an electronic device belonging to him.
Following a forensic examination, investigators determined the device contained multiple files of suspected child sexual exploitation material.
Daniel was charged with three counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a Class E felony.
State Police processed him at SP Lyons and released him on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Clyde Town Court on Jan. 7 at 8:30 a.m.
The investigation was handled by New York State Police Troop E. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact State Police.
