Police and emergency agencies will conduct an active shooter response training exercise next week on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva.
The Geneva Police Department is partnering with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and Hobart and William Smith Colleges Campus Safety for the multi-agency training.
The exercise will run March 16 through March 19 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., with officers practicing coordinated responses to emergency situations.
Residents may notice a large police presence on campus during the training, officials said.
Traffic will also be affected during parts of the exercise. Pulteney Street will be closed to through traffic from noon to 4 p.m. on March 17 and March 19.
Officials emphasized the activity is only a training exercise and that there is no threat to the public.
