Hochul ousts cannabis agency leaders

Gov. Kathy Hochul forced out two top cannabis regulators amid mounting frustration over enforcement failures, according to Spectrum News 1.

Felicia A.B. Reid, the acting director of New York’s Office of Cannabis Management, and Deputy Counsel James Rogers will step down this week. Their exits follow backlash over mishandled disciplinary actions against cannabis firms and delays in cracking down on illegal products.

Susan Filburn will step in as interim chief. Hochul said the agency has blocked progress and promised a leadership overhaul to restore accountability and public trust.
