A leaking propane tank shut down Route 79 west of Ithaca on Friday, prompting emergency crews to block both directions, according to 14850.com.
The Ithaca Fire Department responded to the 1400 block of Mecklenburg Road and closed the stretch between Sheffield and Westhaven roads.
The road reopened safely by 3:40 p.m. after the leak was addressed.
