Only a handful of girls basketball teams were in action across the Wayne-Finger Lakes on Thursday night, but the light schedule still produced plenty of headlines. Harley Allendale Columbia’s Cadence Brecker delivered the biggest moment of the night, scoring her 1,000th career point to become just the fifth girls player in program history to reach the milestone. The senior finished with a game-high 25 points, though it wasn’t enough to beat School of the Arts in the inaugural HAC Tip-Off Tournament.
Over in Wayne County, Lyons and Mynderse squared off in their season openers. The Lions controlled play much of the night, but the Blue Devils clawed back and made things interesting late, trimming the deficit to six with three and a half minutes left before Lyons pulled away for a double-digit victory.
