Seneca County officials clashed over last-minute talk of slashing the 2026 budget during a heated committee meeting, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Board Chair Mike Enslow urged supervisors to stop deferring tough decisions and suggest real cuts before the Dec. 9 vote. The $116.5 million budget includes a $6.55 million property tax hike, raising the tax rate and costing median homeowners an extra $157 a year.
Some backed a hiring freeze, but few offered specifics on what to cut—fueling frustration over the late debate.
