Bath woman charged with food stamp fraud

A Bath woman is facing charges after allegedly using another person’s EBT card without permission earlier this year.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says 24-year-old Cassandra Stage was arrested on November 26 following an investigation into the unauthorized use of the benefits card on April 8.

Stage is accused of making purchases with the stolen card. She has been charged with petit larceny and misuse of food stamps. Investigators say she was released on an appearance ticket and will return to Village of Bath Court at a later date.

Sheriff Allard credited the county’s Department of Social Services and District Attorney’s Office for assisting with the case.
