Seven long-neglected buildings on Canal Street in downtown Lyons will soon come down to make way for new development, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The $2 million demolition project, led by the Wayne County Regional Land Bank, kicks off next week.
The cleared sites will be marketed to developers for potential housing, health care, and day care projects. Some historic buildings were too damaged to save, but a 1935 gas station will be preserved and renovated.
The town also secured a $6.6 million state grant for infrastructure upgrades, aiming to spark broader revitalization.
