A crowd gathered in Lyons to honor the man who led Wayne County’s Sheriff’s Office for nearly three decades.
The county renamed its Public Safety Building after Richard Pisciotti, who served as sheriff for 27 years. Officials said it was a unanimous vote by the Board of Supervisors.
Local and state leaders turned out for the ceremony, including Senator Pam Helming, Assemblyman Brian Manktelow, and representatives from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney’s office. Four retired sheriffs — Barry Virts, Ron Spike, John York, and Phil Povero — also spoke at the event, along with County Court Judge Richard Healy, Board Chair Kim Leonard, and Public Safety Chair Lester Carr.
Organizers called it a tribute to a remarkable public servant who dedicated much of his life to the county’s safety.
