Trump rejects ‘jihadist’ label for Mamdani

President Trump shook hands with NYC mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in the Oval Office Friday and brushed off claims from Rep. Elise Stefanik that Mamdani is a “jihadist,” according to the Times Union.

Trump called Mamdani “very rational” and said campaign rhetoric often goes too far — distancing himself from Stefanik’s repeated attacks, even as she doubled down on social media after the meeting.

Gov. Kathy Hochul praised Trump for rejecting “Islamophobic attacks,” then slammed Stefanik in a TV interview, calling her remarks “disgusting” and “abhorrent.”
