Auburn man charged after drug task force seizes cocaine

An Auburn man was arrested November 21 after investigators with the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force say they found cocaine and drug paraphernalia during searches of his home and vehicle.

Burrell M. Wingate was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, both Class B felonies. Officers seized cocaine hydrochloride, a digital scale, and U.S. currency while executing court-authorized search warrants, according to a press release from the task force.

The search took place at Wingate’s residence and vehicle within the city of Auburn. He was arraigned in Auburn City Court and released.

The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force includes members of the New York State Police, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and Auburn Police Department. The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office is handling prosecution.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the task force at 315-282-7540.
