Deputies arrested a Branchport man last week after discovering stolen property linked to a burglary in Benton.
Scott A. Thornton, 53, was taken into custody on November 19 during a traffic stop in the Village of Penn Yan. The arrest was made on an active warrant stemming from a theft investigation earlier this year.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, Thornton is accused of stealing property from a Benton resident and later storing it inside a building owned by a local business in Penn Yan. He has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree.
Following the arrest, Thornton was transported to the Yates County Jail. He is awaiting arraignment in CAP Court.
