One hospitalized, both drivers cited after Hopewell rollover crash

A rollover crash in Ontario County on Monday afternoon sent one person to the hospital and led to two traffic citations, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 4:28 p.m. on November 18 at the intersection of State Route 488 and Freshour Road in the Town of Hopewell.

Deputies say Julie A. Fuhry, 56, of Macedon, was driving a Chevrolet sedan southbound on Freshour Road and stopped at a stop sign at Route 488. When she pulled into the intersection, her vehicle collided with an eastbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by William P. Russ, 38, of Bloomfield.

Russ’s truck veered off the road after the impact, striking a utility pole and rolling onto its side.

A passenger in Fuhry’s car was taken to Thompson Hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies cited Russ for operating a vehicle without a valid license, and Fuhry was cited for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign.

Hopewell Fire and Canandaigua Ambulance assisted at the scene.
