Mike Soler honored for service at Waterloo Rotary dinner

The Waterloo Rotary Club recently honored longtime community volunteer Mike Soler with its Service Above Self Award during the club’s 8th annual recognition dinner.

Soler, who has dedicated years of volunteer service to the Waterloo community, was recognized for his tireless work across multiple local organizations. The award is presented each year to a non-Rotarian who embodies Rotary’s core value: service to others without expectation of recognition or personal gain.

During the ceremony, Soler received a Village Proclamation from Trustee Andrew Trahms and Rotarian Gina Suffredini. He was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition—one of Rotary’s highest honors—by Waterloo Rotary President Renee Dombek, Foundation Chair Jeff Casim, Assistant District Governor Stacy Wyant, and District Governor Jim Crane.

Rotary leaders described Soler’s contributions as a model of community spirit and selflessness, adding that his actions reflect the best of what it means to serve.

The annual Service Above Self Dinner continues to be a signature event for the Waterloo Rotary, highlighting individuals who go above and beyond to improve their community.
