A 27-year-old man is facing serious charges after police say he built a homemade explosive device inside a Tupper Lake residence.
Matthew W. Latour was arrested on November 11 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
Troopers were called to Ivy Terrace around 5:18 p.m. to help local police after reports that someone had a bomb. Investigators say Latour had constructed an improvised explosive device, which was located and secured at the scene.
The State Police Bomb Disposal Unit responded and safely disabled the device.
Latour was processed at SP Tupper Lake and arraigned in village court. He was released on his own recognizance.
