Geneva officials say they’re ready to settle a long-running parking dispute outside Monaco’s Coffee by declaring the contested spots public, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Police and public works leaders proposed the move after reports that a nearby resident had been harassing the business owner, workers, and customers. The city owns the spaces, but tensions flared when the resident claimed control and acted aggressively toward anyone who parked there.
Councilors largely support the plan, which would make the area subject to city maintenance and enforcement. The coffee shop owner says it’s the first real step toward restoring safety and fairness.
