Cornell agrees to $60M deal to restore funding

Cornell University will pay $60 million and adopt the Trump administration’s civil rights rules to regain over $250 million in frozen federal research funding, according to the Associated Press.

The agreement ends federal investigations into the Ivy League school over alleged violations tied to antisemitism, race, and transgender policies. Cornell must now use a Justice Department memo opposing DEI and trans-inclusive programs as faculty training material.

The deal, which runs through 2028, also requires detailed admissions data to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s affirmative action ban. Cornell’s president must certify compliance quarterly.
