Threat forces cancellation of Christkindl Dinner Dance in Canandaigua

A holiday event in Canandaigua was canceled after a threat of violence shut down plans at the last minute.

The Christkindl Dinner Dance, scheduled for Friday night at the Granger Homestead, was called off following an emailed threat. Police began investigating the message Friday afternoon and coordinated with event organizers to provide extra security.

Despite those efforts, the organizers chose to cancel the event “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a press release from the Canandaigua Police Department.

Officers began working with the New York State Police shortly after the threat was reported. Investigators have since followed multiple leads but have not found any credible evidence linking the threat to an actual plan of violence.

At this time, police say there are no additional threats to the community.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant Lawrence at (585) 337-2106 or by email at [email protected]. Tips can be shared anonymously and will be kept confidential.

Here’s a statement from organizers:

It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of the Granger Homestead Dinner Dance, originally scheduled for November 8, 2025,  due to a credible terrorist threat received by authorities.

The safety and well-being of our guests, volunteers, staff, and community are our top priority. After careful consultation with law enforcement and security officials, we believe this is the most responsible course of action to ensure everyone’s safety.

We understand how disappointing this news is for those who were looking forward to this cherished event. We sincerely appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and continued support of the Granger Homestead.

Information regarding ticket refunds and any potential rescheduling will be shared as soon as possible. Updates will be posted on our official website and social media channels.
