Livingston County wants to know how its young people are really doing — and it’s asking them directly.
This week, the Livingston County Youth Bureau launched a countywide needs assessment focused on youth well-being. The goal is to gather honest feedback about young people’s mental, emotional, and social health — straight from the source.
The initiative is a partnership with Youth Power!, a statewide youth network, along with the Genesee Valley Health Partnership and the Livingston County Suicide Prevention Task Force.
The assessment rolls out in two phases:
- Phase one includes a confidential survey, designed by youth, for youth. It covers topics related to life at home, in school, and around the community. Adults can take a separate survey to share their perspective.
- Phase two will be an in-person youth forum planned for March 2026. Organizers will invite 30 youth from across the county to talk through challenges, offer ideas, and collaborate with adult allies to improve support systems.
“Youth know best what they need,” organizers said in the release, noting that survey results will help identify what’s working and where more resources are needed.
The survey is open now. Youth interested in attending the forum can add their contact info at the end of the survey, but participation is not guaranteed.
