After a breakout season in which he set multiple personal bests, New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham faces a major offseason decision. The 29-year-old received a qualifying offer from New York on Thursday, a one-year deal worth $22.025 million, giving him until November 18 at 4 p.m. to accept or pursue a longer-term contract in free agency.
Grisham was the only Yankee to receive the offer, which marks a substantial jump from his $5 million salary in 2024. Should he decline and sign elsewhere, the Yankees would receive a compensatory pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.
His decision could also impact how New York constructs its outfield next season, which currently features Aaron Judge, Jasson DomÃnguez, and potentially top prospect Spencer Jones.
In 2025, Grisham hit .235 with 34 home runs, 74 RBIs, and an .812 OPS across 143 games, all career highs. Acquired from the San Diego Padres in the December 2023 trade that brought Juan Soto to New York, he rebounded strongly after batting .190 in limited action the previous year. A two-time Gold Glove Award winner (2020, 2022), Grisham has established himself as one of baseball’s top defensive outfielders.
