Deputies arrested a Locke man Monday after he allegedly violated a court order and assaulted a woman.
Michael Zirbel, 48, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt—a felony—and attempted third-degree assault following an investigation by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they were called to a home in Locke on Sunday evening for a report of a physical domestic incident. When they arrived, Zirbel had already left the scene. Investigators later learned he violated an active order of protection by making unwanted physical contact with the victim.
Deputies obtained a warrant and arrested Zirbel the next day. He was arraigned and remanded to jail, as he was already on parole. The order of protection was upgraded to a full stay-away.
Zirbel is due back in Locke Town Court on November 6.
